The second largest city in Norway, Bergen, has recently had a public debate on the complexity of paying for parking in the city. The new cooperation is meant to streamline the experience by enabling the population to use one app for parking, both on the street and in the city’s private parking buildings.

The cooperation between Hi Tech Mobility and EasyPark also enables a fully automatic feature in the major garages. Through number plate recognition technology, the parking fee can be started and stopped simply by driving to or from the parking space. The barriers in the facilities are removed and the cooperation have already had a positive impact as many domestic tourists have used this way of parking in Bergen, during the summer.

– This kind of innovation is the future for both driving and parking. We see a rise in automated services in society in general, and we are very excited to be able to bring that technology to the people of Bergen, says Stian Andre Holst, Country Director of EasyPark Norway.
